Lily—

I hope you'll forgive me the lateness. With the recent events, I've been busier than ever, and not in a very merry state of mind.

The puzzlebox enclosed came to me by private commission. A very old Cantonese witch wished to be rid of it to avoid trouble with the Ministry. It spent close to two hundred years in her family, safeguarding various charmed heirlooms. Don't be alarmed by the traces of Dark magic; I've removed all the extant curses that were laid into the wood, of which there were many (the least being one that turned the would-be thief's bones to jelly).

There are many interesting charms of deception that make it rather more than a muggle's mechanical puzzle. I thought you may enjoy them, and I've left them whole.
